Our Background
West Coast Softball All-Stars is the brainchild of Joann and Derek Allister and is based upon the recruiting services Derek Allister used for 17 years as a Division 1 men's basketball coach. The Allister family has been heavily involved in NCAA Division 1 athletics for the past 27 years. In addition to Derek's involvement, Joann coached Division 1 softball for 4 years, and the Allister daughters, Heather and Jessica, played at the Major College level. Heather finished her career at the University of Missouri in the Big 12, and Jessica completed her career at Stanford University in the Pac-10.
The West Coast Softball All-Star idea began forming many years ago. In 1995, the need for such a recruiting tool became obvious. Joann was at that point sifting through the unfiltered information supplied by tournaments and viewing hundreds of tapes. Subsequently, the recruitment of Heather and Jessica re-emphasized this void in the world of softball recruiting. The urgent need for a COACH'S BASED RESOURCE SERVICE became ever more apparent.
In the Summer of 2002, the initial West Coast Softball All-Star Report was launched. The positive response from collegiate coaching staffs across the country was immediate. The small initial reports blossomed into comprehensive Class reports. Now, West Coast Softball All-Stars has moved into other areas of the country who have talented players interested in being recruited at the highest level possible. Regional Recruiting Camps begin with the Northwest Combine in Seattle over Labor Day. Plans are being made for 6 Regional Camps to be held across the country in Seattle, Southern California, Texas, Illinois, Georgia, and the Northeast. These camps will emerge over the next twelve months. A National Camp has been held for the last three years and has met with rave reviews.
The scope of West Coast Softball All-Stars continues to expand in an effort to meet the needs of the college recruiter and the prospective player. The OnDeck Softball website will further enhance the Allister's ability to help the collegiate coach become a more effective recruiter. Whether you are a Division 1, 2 or 3 coach we hope you will join us in our attempt to further the great sport of collegiate softball.
